Fleet Technician II

“Working for the city gives you a sense of purpose. Repairing a fire truck and then seeing them going out to a call to rescue someone or fixing a piece of equipment during a snow event so they can clear the streets for the public. It gives you a feeling that you are part of something bigger than just being a technician. Knowing that what you have done directly effects how the city operates is a good feeling.”

Accountant Supervisor

“I like working in such a team-oriented environment. When a department has a problem that I don’t know how to solve, I always know that my coworkers have my back and will help me through it. I really like advising departments to help make projects happen. In my old job, I only worked with accountants, but now I get to work directly with police officers, engineers, water plant operators, and more. It’s fun and rewarding to work with experts in other professions to help make our city better. ”

Police Officer

“What I like most about being a police officer is the sense of fulfillment that comes along with this line of work. Every day brings a new challenge, which gives you the opportunity to grow personally and gain meaningful experience. More importantly, you have a direct impact on the public and are always assisting the citizens of Bismarck when they need it the most. Being able to make each interaction a positive one to the best of my ability instills in me a motivation to always put my best effort forward on each call.”
